Life as a kitesurfer in Canada with Daniel Koening

Daniel is a young kiteboarder. Early adopters of the Crazy Foils with his father, we wanted to know more about what a kiteboarder life looks like in Canada. Let’s have a session with Daniel KOENIG!

Daniel, what can you tell us about you?

I am from Winnipeg Manitoba CA, where we’ve been owning a kite shop with my father since 2008. I am 25 years old and have been kiting for 11 years.

I’m mostly kiting for fun, and sometimes I teach what I have learned to students. I am also part of the CORE Kiteboarding team.

What got you into foiling?

I got into foiling when they first started to get popular amongst kiters. The light wind potential and the feeling of flying over water really attracted me. I love the fact that the foil offers so much freedom when it comes to exploring and reaching new spots with ease!

One hard upwind tack and I’m where I need to be.

What’s your favorite kind of session?

I love kite foiling at home. Just when I think I’ve been everywhere, something new pops up. To me, foiling definitely has a future with kiteboarding; it opens up a totally new and addicting window of opportunities. It’s the perfect compromise for anyone looking to continue learning and exploring.

What has been your best Crazy Foil’s products experience?

I’m in love with the JET TRACK 26. It’s light, durable, so easy to pack for travelling and so simple to put together and use.

See you in the water!
